Rotterdam hub

Importable's consolidation point — every European corridor passes through one named QC + signing facility in Rotterdam.

Why Rotterdam?

Rotterdam is the largest fresh-produce gateway between mainland Europe and the UK; an estimated 38% of EU→UK fresh-produce volume moves through Dutch hubs. The infrastructure (cold storage, BTOM-cleared lanes, customs expertise) is already there, which is why Importable consolidates rather than ships direct from origin.

Why a single hub rather than direct origin → UK?

A single hub means a single signing-key registry, a single QC standard, and a single audit point. Direct-from-origin shipping is operationally cheaper but loses the documented-trader cleared-lane treatment and forces buyer-side QC. The trade-off chose verifiability over a few hours of transit time.

What happens at the hub?

Consignments arrive in their original reefer container, are inspected at a named bay by a named QC inspector with a registered public key, their weight + grade + cold-chain are signed, and pre-cleared documentation is hash-sealed for the onward UK leg. Pass → invoice clears. Partial → repair-options dialogue with buyer + coop within 15 minutes.

Is the hub Importable-owned?

Phase 1 of the business uses a partner-operated facility under exclusive-bay arrangement. Phase 2 (commercial scale) brings a dedicated facility online. Either way, the inspector is on Importable's payroll and signs with an Importable-registered key.
